summer favorites

Summertime and we are REALLY feeling it here in D.C. This heat inspired me to round up some of my favorite summer finds this season! Stay cool, friends 🙂

 1.  Coola Face SPF 30 Cucumber Matte Finish

Protecting your skin from those rays is top priority in the summer. Which is why I decided to kick off my Summer Favorites list with Coola Face SPF 30 Cucumber moisturizer. While I love everything that Coola makes, this stuff takes the cake! The coverage is seriously long lasting, but the fresh cucumber scent will make you want to keep re-applying. The matte finish is great for those, like me, who tend to get extra oily skin in the summer months. Plus, it makes a great base for your makeup!

2.  Ouai Wave Spray

Honestly, thank the hair gods and goddesses for Jen Atkin. She finally cracked the ‘perfect beach hair’ code with Ouai Texture Hair Spray. I was very hesitant to try the wave spray out – I’ve just been burned too many times! Every beach hair spray promises the same thing – texture, volume, no sticky residue, no crunch – but Oaui actually delivers. Once I finally gave in and tried it, I was hooked!

3. Sailor-Sailor Shoreline Off the Shoulder Dress

If you follow me on any kind of social media, this dress probably looks familiar. I practically sleep in it. Sailor-Sailor is an awesome brand who uses performance wicking fabrics that feels much like swimsuit material. It’s super breathable, packable, and comfortable. The Shoreline dress has a slimming cut, but it’s not too fitted. However, I do recommend sizing up for a looser, more casual look. The bright yellow color and off the shoulder style are perfect for summer, but there are other style options available too! Check out more on Sailor-Sailor.

4. In a Dark, Dark Wood by Ruth Ware

The perfect beach read! With a similar vibe to Girl on the Train or Luckiest Girl Alive, this thriller is sure to keep you up til 2:00 am still turning pages. Leonora aka Nora Shaw is surprised when she is invited to an old friend’s bachelorette party, but decides to attend despite her uneasiness about the weekend. She is met by an acyclic group of 20-somethings in an isolated house off the beaten path (always a good sign). When things take a dark turn, the group tries to figure out who is beyond all the suspense. The characters are complex, flawed, and very well written. The author, Ruth Ware, does an amazing job building suspicion and intrigue. Highly recommend!

5. Fresh Life Eau de Parfum Rollerball

Anyone else more on-the-go during the summer? If you are anything like me, you may live out of your purse from May – August. Which means it’s time to break out the rollerball. While I am usually a sucker for The Beach by Bobbi Brown, this year I decided to shake things up and try something new. Fresh Life is great for subtle, scents that are ideal for everyday use. This light, fresh, citrus scent from Fresh Life is the perfect blend for a summer scent.

6. High Rise White Jeans

White high-waisted skinnies go with everything in the summer!  I love a good stretch in my denim and this pair from Zara is perfect for the summer heat!  The waist hits at JUST the right spot too which is so hard to come by! I also love the extra detail the exposed hem gives. I have tagged a few other styles below as well!

7. Ancient Greek Apteros Sandals

My favorite summer sandal! I tend to stay away from white shoes, but these I’d make an exception for. These handmade leather sandals go with EVERYTHING! The shoe’s design is simple, but still a little funky and unique. Mine have seriously taking a beating this summer – I wear them almost everyday – and they are still just as comfy as day one!

8. & Other Stories Radiance Cream

When it comes to makeup, I am VERY picky. I always try out new products, but end up going back to my OGs. However, I think my newest find will be one to stay! I have been testing out & Other Things makeup line (will do a full review later!), but already know that this Radiance Cream is going to be a added to my daily routine. While the product is described as highlighting cream, I would say it’s the perfect combo between a highlighter, brightener, and moisturizer. The slight pink tint makes it a bit more special and different from a traditional highlighter. Mix in with your moisturizer for an allover shine or tap onto your T-zone for some added shine. However, the shimmer is pretty visible so I typically just apply to those hight points for extra luminosity. The creamy texture makes it easy to put on and gives your skin a natural finish.

9. Solid & Striped Swimwear

Raise your hand if you hate shopping for swimsuits (insert raising hand emoji here)! It can be such a pain which is why I wanted to switch gears a bit for this one. If you don’t know much about Solid & Striped, the name pretty much says it best – solid and striped swimwear. Each color variety comes in several different styles – from the classic triangle bikini to the more trendy Ballerina look. And to top it all off, their swimwear fits like a dream. However, I do recommend ordering up a size especially for the one-pieces. But once you find the right fit, the suit hits all your curves just where it should! These are your more never-to-go-out-of-style pieces and a great investment. You can rock these classics year after year!

10. LAQA & CO. Cheeky Lip

I am a sucker for hot pink lips in the summer. This creamy Cheeky Lip from LAQA & CO. has been my go-to for years! The vibrant color is such a fun touch for summer. This twist up stick makes it easy to apply. It is seriously long-lasting too! Top it off with some SPF Chapstick and you are set for the day.
