simple tricks to getting a cozy bedroom

Our bedroom needed a little love so I was anxious to do a makeover this winter! Parachute bedding has been on my wish list for awhile now and when I saw this Limited Edition Heather Striped Duvet Cover I finally went for it! I love the chambray look of the Heather Blue color and thought it would bring out the similar tone in our bedroom rug. Plus, it would be a good contrast to our all white furniture.

Once that bedding came in, I was inspired to make our bedroom a more relaxing, cozy space especially during the Holidays!

I scored big time on throw pillows at Target! Adding texture was key so I grabbed this oversized light grey faux fur sham. I loved the neutral toned pattered throw that added some detail to the bed. This white textured pillow tied the look together perfectly! Placing our Parachute pillowcases in the back adds a little contrast to add some warmth. This pom-pom throw blanket was also another textural element that just screamed cozy. Plus, it’s super soft!

The string lights were a perfect touch for the holidays, but also gives off just the right amount of soft, warm light. I decided to fill the rest of the shelf with plants and give the room some life. And, of course, no shelf is complete without a few books.

We also have a small wooden storage unit that needed a little sprucing up. I absolutely love the smell of eucalyptus and use dry branches as an air freshener quite often. Adding a few branches to this area gives the space a more earthy vibe. I love the addition of this DC art print (that I found at Urban Dwell – DC folks!) to give a personal touch.

I like to keep my dresser pretty bare, but the lamp and mirror were much needed functional additions when we first moved in. Stephen picked out this classic style landscape painting that we found thrifting so adding this modern clock balanced the styles out. To give the space a bit more warmth, I added just a few simple touches – a fringe blanket, this white/terra-cotta planter, and a large candle. It only takes a few tweaks to get big results!

I don’t usually re-decorate my bedroom during the winter, but the holidays so got me in the mood to change things up! Do you all add holiday decorations to your bedroom? I would love to hear what you do to switch things up in the comments below!
