True life: I am a makeup and hair junkie. This obsession has led to countless Birchbox samples, Sephora face masks, and every anti-frizz hair product that CVS has ever offered. So when Stephen and I first decided to move in together, my second thought (aside from yay!) was “oh sh*t, my stuff”.
So the hunt for the perfect vanity began. Aside from storage space, I was also looking for something compact with a white finish. Luckily, Ikea had the perfect solution. The two separate storages spaces and the built in mirror are a huge plus! I paired the space with this fur stool from Target – I have tagged similar styles below!
Even with plenty of storage space, keeping makeup and hair products organized can be a real pain. To avoid leaving your vanity looking like a war zone, I like to use acrylic organizers for those everyday products to help create a clean, sleek look. Glambox products are an organized gal’s dream, but the larger organizers can get a bit pricey. I opted for a cheaper acrylic jewelry organizer from Amazon, but couldn’t say no to the Glambox bracelet holder. Home Goods, TJ Maxx, and Marshalls are always great spots for acrylic organizers as well! The Gold Carnaby Zebra Stacking Dish is also a fun addition and great for smaller jewelry items. Another Jonathan Adler favorite, the classic Vice Canisters, was a no-brainer for storing cotton balls, Q-Tips, and make-up removing pads.
My day starts and ends at my vanity so I really wanted this space to not only be organized, but motivating and creative. I am a big believer in visualization so incorporating visuals – like mood or vision boards – to get me focused in the morning was essential. Nothing could be more motivating than Queen Bey herself and this art print from EttaVeeStudio went #flawlessly. Have a personal goal you are working on? Represent it in this space! My resolution this year was to put more time into my art so I added a piece of my own work as a daily reminder to create. I also like to set out cute cards or kind notes from loved ones. This little dose of gratitude first thing in the AM is just the right mood booster! Books are also a good source of inspiration and work in any space. The Fashion Book, Audrey Hepburn: Photographs 1953-1966, and Nasty Galaxy books paired perfectly with the color scheme of the rug and the feminine, fashion-forward, girl boss vibe I was going for.
Whether you are looking to get more organized or refresh your space, try using everyday items you already own. Remember – books, jewelry, and clothes are all art too! Whatever motivates you or helps get you out of bed in the morning, try representing this in your own “me” space.
